TZJC planned and executed a 3 mile recon hike, recording signs of wildlife along the way.

Completion of the hike was faced by a looming deadline in the form of a swiftly approaching storm that brought heavy winds and snow to the area. Junior Corps members, who had to perform all planning activities on their own initiative, managed to complete all required steps and successfully perform the hike.

The objective rally point was designated Heartbreak Ridge.
The most striking find during the hike was discovery of the skeletal remains of a deer. Bones were identified and left on site in accordance with leave-no-trace principles discussed during earlier briefings. Go Teame!

DEPARTMENTS
TZJC activities support the growth and development of core assets within the community to encourage learning, preparedness, teamwork, and fun
Features

OPERATION STORMSTEP: Cold-weather equipment tests, patrol movement drills, and signals run-throughs with K9 training support in a foothills peak ascent in a pre-dawn granite-step trail environment
Keywords: - Readiness - - Exercises - - -
Two team elements left the departure point and moved from dense brush to hilltop along designated rally points. A forward scout element located and identified light source contacts. Contacts were tracked as they moved rapidly through the operation area.

FISH FARMERS: A visit to a fish hatchery allows TZ JC members to inspect a hatchery facility and answer questions to fish and game officials.
Keywords: - Nature - - Public Policy - - Fish -
Over 200 thousand fish per year are raised and released into rivers, streams and lakes from this facility. Teame members were taken through the entire process, learning interesting facts at each step along the way. The process of liquid water oxygenation and mobile high population transport methods were particular subjects of focus during question and answer sessions.

ROBOT ARM ASSEMBLY: Zazzu Junior Corps practiced following detailed step by step instructions to assemble a working robotic arm from prefabricated parts.
Keywords: - Robots - - DIY - - -
The robot arm features four points of articulation. It is electrically powered by an on-board battery connected by Junior Corps members following simple wiring diagrams. Fundamental machine principles such as screws, levers, fulcrums, and powered motion are practically demonstrated by the rotating, lifting, and grasping robotic arm.

JR CORPS SEARCH AND RESCUE INTRO DAY: Keep searching and you will find a way!
Keywords: - Readiness - - - - Search and Rescue - - Exercises -
After 5k endurance run, members visit with fire, police, and medical personnel for introduction to emergency equipment.

STEM RESEARCH DAY: Jr Corps team members explored the sciences at the STEM action center
Keywords: - -
TZJC members explored approaches to teamwork and basic engineering by building rudimentary structures from block materials, firing an air cannon at human targets, taking control of robot warriors in a battlebot ring, performing basic laboratory functions, and taking command of a simulated drone control station.
