TZMD members combined with OMEGA search and rescue, local, state, and federal agencies to conduct coordinated emergency disaster response in the aftermath of a tornado touchdown.
The realistic scenario reproduced damage occurring in a residential community after thunderstorms formed a rapidly moving squall line and spun an F-2 tornado over Littleton, CO from the advancing front.
“
The surrounding residential community has sustained moderate damage. The actual scope of the storm's impact not known.
”
Due to the amount of damage, most roads in the area were unpassable and heavy equipment was not available at the scene for several hours. Local volunteers activated to respond to the incident were placed under TZ command elements and dispatched as a rapid reaction force designated Alpha Team to conduct hasty search and rescue, first aid, and medevac triage.
